Micro Theme

      When I heard that the micro theme was only going to be one page, I thought to myself this should be a fairly easy quick little paper. It definitely didn't end up being as easy as I thought it was going to be.    

 The first hurdle to my writing, actually starting the paper. I'm probably not alone with this but getting started is always a tough thing for me. I have an idea of what I want to write but transferring it from thoughts in my head to actual words is a struggle. Even if I'm able to get something started I do a quick reread and the perfectionist in me don't think its good enough and I got right back to square one. 

    Another hurdle I was struggling with was keeping my writing to the perimeters of what was required. In grade school I became the expert at including sentences that made my writing appear better or at a higher level when they didn't have a true purpose. I can't include those sentences to include everything I need to in the one page allowed. This forced me to have to really focus my thoughts which was harder than I thought it would be.

    I completely relate to your initial reaction to writing this paper! Also, transferring thoughts into words on paper is always difficult for me, too! I love how relatable your writing is! Keep it up, Bethany!

    I can definitely agree on the part on including sentences to a paper when they didn't really have a purpose. In grade school, they mainly focused on quantity rather the quality of the paper. They didn't greatly set us up for college, how to even write at the college level. They did gave use the fundamentals but going into college writing is like going in blind.

      When I was in high school I always knew no matter what I wanted to do sports in college. Whether it was triathlon or cross country and track I didn't care. All I wanted was to have a team that I could have as a built in friend group and a group of people passionate about the same thing as me.     Now that I've been through high schools sports and now a full season of college triathlon I've noticed that doing sports in high school and in college while in the way are the same are also vastly different from each other. Superstitions

Superstition, according to the Oxford Dictionary   definition , is " the belief that particular events happen in a way that cannot be explained by reason or science; the belief that particular events bring good or bad luck " While there are widely known superstitions such as 13 being unlucky, knocking on wood to not jinx something, walking under a ladder, black cats, and many more but many people also have their own personal superstitions.  With my being an athlete most of my personal superstitions lie within  competitions whether it be the build up to one or during. Some of them for me are certain hairstyles for certain sports such as double dutch for only triathlons and either a couple smaller braids into a straightened ponytail or a small dutch braid into a single French braid for track.  While some people argue that sup erstitions don't mean anything, that's something I beg to differ.
